In October 2010 EU Affairs Committee held 6 meetings (no. 198-203).

The European Information and Documentation Centre (OIDE) received from the EU Affairs Committee secretariat and published in SUE and IPEX databases information and documents concerning the following meetings held in order to scrutinise EU documents: no. 196-198, 200-202.

The EU Affairs Committee has adopted two opinions on non-compliance with the principle of subsidiarity: opinion 66 and 68.

Adopted opinions are not reasoned opinions as defined by the art. 6 of the Protocol [no. 2] on the application of the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality annexed to the Treaty of Lisbon.

In October five bills implementing EU law have been submitted – see papers no.:

During the XLIV COSAC meeting among others issues from the last biannual report were discussed: sustainable development and the programme EU2020, parliamentary control of the European security and defence policy as well as the future role of COSAC after the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon.

In the European Parliament in the meeting of parliamentary committees from national parliaments and the EP was held. Members of committees responsible for issues concerning freedom, justice and home affairs discussed „Democratic accountability in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice”.

CITIZENS’ INITIATIVE

5 October 2010

The Committee on Constitutional Affairs of the EP held a discussion on working document on a proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the citizens' initiative. Draft report on the subject is to be presented on the beginning of November this year.
